FREIGHT LENS THE CASE EXPLORERDELIVERED TO New Jersey

LET’S FOLLOW YOUR SUPPLIES

Little cases.
Big journeys.

Choose an origin and enter cases for each product. Compare your current shipping estimate with buying local American-made products from the selected U.S. location.

Rough estimates only. Results model shipping CO₂ under the stated assumptions. Actual emissions may differ materially. This is not a complete product footprint or a verified emissions-savings claim.

Choose a current origin and an Local American supply location for each product.

Pick · Count · Compare

Use the same time period for all products. Enter whole cases; leave unused products at zero. Minimize unused items to shorten the list; expand them anytime. Quantities are not saved after you close or reload this page.

Catalog weights include product and shipping packaging. The same case weight is assumed for both origin scenarios.

02 / Your product comparison

Estimated kg CO₂ for the entered cases, rounded down to whole numbers. Totals and percentages use unrounded values. A positive Current estimate − Buy Local American Goods difference means the Buy Local American Goods shipping estimate is lower.

03 / Preset assumptions

Distances are illustrative, not mapped. Ocean routes assume arrival in NJ. The U.S. truck factor is used as a proxy for trucking in other countries. This calculator does not verify origin or supplier claims.

Calculation method & factor sources

How cases become an estimate

Shipment weight = case count × preset shipped weight per case.

Truck kg CO₂ = shipment lb ÷ 2,000 × truck miles × truck factor.

Ocean kg CO₂ = shipment lb × 0.45359237 ÷ 1,000 × ocean miles × 1.609344 × ocean factor.

Sum each route's legs. Percentage difference = (Current estimate − Buy Local American Goods) ÷ current estimate × 100; it is undefined when the selected-origin estimate is zero. Display rounding does not represent measurement precision.

Sources & historical limitations

Truck: EPA 2025, Table 8, 0.186 kg CO₂ / short ton-mile.

Ocean: UK 2012, Annex 7, page 33, 0.01250 kg CO₂ / metric tonne-km, 8,000+ TEU container ship, 70% loading. This historical illustrative benchmark is not a current carrier-specific factor.
